The Inspiring Journey of Warren Ebert, Sentinel CEO

Warren Ebert founded Sentinel Property Group after more than two decades of high-level experience in the property industry.

The Sentinel CEO comes from humble origins and was driving taxis in Brisbane for seven years before a sliding doors moment proved to be life changing.

While stopping at cab ranks waiting for his next fare, Warren would avidly read newspapers to fuel his strong interest in the commercial property market.

He would share his knowledge with passengers, one of whom was Warren Lennon, the then Queensland Manager of LJ Hooker Projects and president of the Building Owners and Managers Association (now the Property Council of Australia).

With Mr Lennon’s assistance, Warren later became an agent at LJ Hooker Commercial. He would go on to work as a commercial property agent at PRD Nationwide, Citywide and CBRE before founding his own property investment firm, Sentinel Property Group, in 2009.

As CEO, Warren has driven Sentinel’s rapid growth over the past 15 years with the Group now boasting a $2 billion national portfolio including the Northern Territory’s largest shopping centre Casuarina Square and another market dominating regional shopping centre in Mackay in Queensland, Caneland Central.

With a proven value-adding strategy and impressive track record of delivering industry-leading returns to investors, Sentinel has become one of Australia’s most active and successful counter-cyclical property buyers with a national portfolio of retail, industrial, office and land assets which consistently topped the index of the country’s best performing property funds on total return performance.

Affectionately known in the industry as the ‘Property Whisperer’, Warren has an uncanny ability to navigate the intricacies of the commercial real estate markets. Warren leads a team dedicated to identifying and capitalising on lucrative property investment opportunities.

Warren attributes Sentinel’s success to the company’s commitment to investing in tenant relationships and closely managing each property in its portfolio.

His dogged enthusiasm and unflinching motivation is inspired by the words of his namesake, legendary US investor Warren Buffett, whom he is often quick to quote. Warren Buffet is the inspiration behind the five Sentinel values of accountability, honesty, opportunistic, owner’s eye and attention to detail.

Over the years, Warren has also proved to be a great mentor to those starting out in the property industry. He holds a Diploma in Business, Real Estate & Valuation from the University of Queensland, was a committee member for 10 years with the Property Council of Australia’s Planning & Development Committee and is a former board member of the Australian Property Institute
