As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll work closely with the Senior Financial Accountant to manage essential bookkeeping, accounting, and payroll duties. You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy, preparing reports, and ensuring tax compliance, contributing to the overall success of our finance team.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Prepare bank, general ledger, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Process payroll and handle related queries
  • Perform credit card reconciliations
  • Manage banking uploads and reviews
  • Support statutory reporting (FBT, BAS, tax returns, audit)
  • Handle monthly invoice coding and internal recharges
  • Process statutory payments (BAS, IAS, FBT, and superannuation)
  • Provide general support to the Financial Accountant and Senior Financial Accountant.

Are you someone with?

  • Previous assistant accountant experience in a fast-paced office environment
  • Partial or completed tertiary qualifications in finance/accounting (desired, not essential)
  • Experience in payroll processing (highly desirable)
  • Proficiency in MS Office platforms
  • Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Netsuite, Tech1, Microsoft Dynamics, Approvalmax, or Nexus (desired, not essential)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management abilities
  • Strong multitasking capabilities in a dynamic environment
  • The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team
